Zion National Park Wedding
Zion National Park is by far one of my favorites to have a wedding in. The park is so unique and offers stunning views around every corner. Due to the popularity of the park (Zion gets over 5 million visitors each year!), there is a strategy to weddings in the park. This calls for a deep understanding of the park layout, systems, and how to best navigate things when hiccups occur. I lived in Springdale for three years while working as a Canyoneering Guide at Zion Adventure Company. This means I am able to navigate these complexities in a unique way. I will take the reigns and ensure your wedding day is stress free, you’ll want to work someone like me.
Monica & Andrew’s October Wedding in Zion
Monica wanted a stress free wedding in Zion National Park. We hopped on a call to chat about what she and Andrew wanted their day to be like. We got started brainstorming ceremony locations as well as what the flow of the day was going to look like. Because of my experience and familiarity in Zion, I was then able to share ceremony location ideas I thought would best fit their vision. The two of them were really drawn to the Temple of Sinewava, the gateway to the Narrows in Zion. This is one of the six approved ceremony sites available within the park boundary. Next came choosing where they wanted to take sunset photos—they wanted a big view to capture the beauty of Zion and I knew just where to go.
Canyon Overlook is a popular destination for hikers, photographers, wedding couples, big horn sheep, and the like. This evening we counted 7 wedding couples at Canyon Overlook taking sunset photos. I always try to let the people I work with know this could be what we encounter. There’s a way to take photos where people aren’t in the background. However there can be a lot of energy at this location that gives off a competitive vibe. Depending on comfort levels, I often recommend choosing a different location where we won’t encounter many people. Monica & Andrew knew we could run into other people and didn’t skip a beat!
Their friends and family surprised them by meeting them at the Canyon Overlook vista with cake and champaign. The joy on their faces taking in their wedding day in Zion National Park was beautiful to witness.
